"Hosanna, Hosanna to the Son of David, Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord, HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST!"

April 5th, the  Orthodox inhabitants of Odessa celebrated in the church of the Archangel Michael, the  feast of the Entry into Jerusalem. The temple was filled with believers, many standing on the street to be able to pray together.

They gathered in the temple with the  head of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Metropolitan Agafangel.

"The Orthodox Church remembers a very significant event. This is the entrance into Jerusalem. Our Lord Jesus Christ many times happened  to be in Jerusalem, but never before was His entry into the city, was attached  such significance as it is now. All were convinced that He was their King, this being a man who would free them from slavery, who will drive out the hated Romans and conquer other kingdoms.

People were so sure of this,  especially after the previous day, when he committed the greatest miracle - the raising of Lazarus. He raised the dead, who for many days was lying in the tomb.
But we know very well what happened in the next few days. When the Lord entered Jerusalem He did not overthrow the hated Roman rule, he did not do anything. Followers of  Him were disappointed, as they had seen  in Him an earthly king, not the King of heaven.

We also meet Him as King. We have no right to question Him, unlike the people who met him then, - spoken  in an address to the faithful of ROCA.

Today a ROCOR priest, Fr. Vitaly, consecrated  willow branches for the faithful who came to the festive Divine Liturgy.

March 23 / April 5, 2015, in the great feast - Entry into Jerusalem, the solemn service in Odessa St. John Nunnery (ROCA, p. Egorovka).

The service in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was performed by a monastic priest - Father Alexander. Smoothly and splendidly sang the two [antiphonal] monastic choirs. There were many parishioners from Odessa and Egorovka, the participants were almost all the worshipers in the temple. After the priestly sermon on the feast, and all listened to the post communion prayers of thanksgiving for the Holy Communion, then the nuns made  a festive procession led by an icon, singing the thanksgiving hymns,  to the refectory, where all the nuns and guests were treated to a dinner party.
